PRODUCTS AND SERVICES

Products manufactured by PREINSA are made using metals such as steel, iron, aluminum and bronze and in all grades. The parts can also be manufactured in different types of industrial plastics. Throughout the production phase, the parts may be subject to milling, lathing, cutting and wearing processes.

The company has invested in modern C.N.C. machinery that performs all the necessary milling and turning.  While PREINSA’s core competency is in machining, the company has invested in a vast network of partners that can supply a myriad of services.

Our qualified and experienced partners can supply the following: painted, anodized or powdered coating finishes, FDA approved clean room assembly, injection molding, heat-treating, welding, and fabricating.  PREINSA is located in one of the most robust industrial parks in Costa Rica thus all of our partners are in close proximity to PREINSA.  The final inspection of quality, including all outsourced processes and services, is the responsibility of the Quality Assurance Department within PREINSA.

PREINSA’s Products and Services are the following:

  • Milling and lathing:  PREINSA machines with modern up-to-date computerized numerical control equipment (C.N.C Machining).
  • Engineering services:  Consult with our engineers to develop strategic new components and solutions for your business on a mass production basis.
  • Subcontracting:  Have the piece mind to know PREINSA can be your turn key solution as it employs its vast network to supply your finishing, assembling, welding, and fabrication needs.

The technologies used in manufacturing metal parts are:

C.N.C. Milling:  These machines make use of multiple cutters with teeth, known as mills, using a variety of tools that are automatically exchanged.  They can perform various operations on different surfaces of a part.  PREINSA has 9 machining centers (incluiding one 5-Axis Simultaneous Milling Machine) and processes with capacities ranging from 7,500 RPMs to 15,000 RPMs that can use up to 32 tools.  These CNC machines are fed a program by utilizing Edgecam™ technology in concert with our trained programmers’ input.

C.N.C. Lathes:  These are automated revolution machines that utilize computer software that our trained programmers program.  Each part is fed on the bar automatically, from a long bar that is inserted through a tube that has a bolster and is attached through hydraulic torque tweezers.  They are used for high production volumes.  There are six machining centers that work at 6,000 RPMs and use 12 tools.

Conventional Milling:  This operation is performed with a cutting tool called a milling cutter, which allows PREINSA to perform a variety of jobs in areas located in parallel planes, perpendicularly, or forming various angles, and to drill circular grooves among other uses. The tool change is done manually. Frequently PREINSA utilizes conventional milling processes to build its fixtures.

Conventional Lathes:  This operation uses a simple tip tool that removes materials from the surface of a cylindrical turning work piece.
